Think Pink + Giveaway

February 21, 2009 By Spoonful of Sugar - 130 Comments

I have started my first quilt with some Prints Charming fabrics I bought from Hot Possum. I have designed a simple brick quilt, and I plan to machine quilt it using a diamond pattern. I am going to call my quilt “Think Pink”!!

We recently celebrated our one year blogversary and made a donation to the Red Cross Bush Fire Appeal to mark the occasion. We have now decided to have a Think Pink giveaway as well. To enter leave a comment saying your favourite thing about the colour pink. You will win some pink goodies including my favourite Prints Charming fabric, a Matryoska magnet, pink moleskine notebook, plus some other goodies. We will do the draw on Saturday Feb 28.

Mum and I have been putting some finishing touches to our “Time for Tea” Swap this week. We will be able to reveal all in a couple more weeks!!

Great Choices for your first Quilt! It’s going to look tremendous. PINK! I have always loved Pink. My first love affair came from Cotton Candy and grew include Roses, Tulips, Peonies, and fabrics colored Pink. I made little Pink dresses for my Tessa when she was a baby and I love pink most of all because it makes me remember being such a Tomboy and wearing Pink dresses to school
and actually feeling like a girl. I still love it now because it is so Fresh, Vibrant, Sweet and still makes be feel like a girlie girl!

My favorite thing about the color pink is how little girls are just drawn to it. It doesn’t matter if you dress them in purple and green, when they see pink, they go for it.

My favorite thing about the color pink is how it has come to represent breast cancer. As a breast cancer survivor it helped me get through the rough times, seeing other people wearing pink ribbons or hats/shirts with pink ribbons made me feel supported and not alone in my journey. Pink has come to represent survival to me. Judi

I’d never been a big pink fan- refused to wear it, felt frustrated by the gender-branding aspects of it, until I lived in the Sonora Desert near the U.S./Mexican border. I’d never seen sunsets like that before, nor that many different hues of pink – it was amazing!

But then, she was born and everything was pink and it made me think of her and all those feelings that rush in during/after her birth. In fact, just today she asked her dad to paint her green room pink.

Pink is a great girly colour, that no matter how old you are, you can still wear it. I love that it reminds me of so many things, like dolls, and lollies and pretty flowers.
I think its a colour that always makes you happy, like yellow. 🙂

I love pink and wear it all the time. Even most of my jewellery is pink!

When I was growing up I had bright red hair and desperately wanted to wear pink, but my mum wouldn’t let me (but you should have seen me in my maroon school uniform – and you could have too, from about a mile away!) I now have grey hair and my favourite thing about the colour pink is that I can now wear it without fear of clashing!

Its the only colour special enough to have its own name. Its just red and white mixed but mix blue with white and you just get light blue.

Because when you tame down a “red” you’ll get “pink”. I think of pink as a soft and thoughtful girl, while her sister red is a daring and spontaneous girl. And orange is the cheeriest of the three. They are all sisters, I guess..

What’s not t love about pink. It’s girly and all the really good foods are pink like cotton candy and pink bunny peeps all soft and sweet. Pink represents the soft and sweet in girls. I thin we may go to other colors for awhile but we always come back to pink. It’s just fabulous!

I love pink for all the obvious girlish reasons written before 🙂 I’ll just add two other reasons:
The first is that I love the Aaerosmith song “Pink” (great, now I’ll be humming it to myself all day), and second: my boyfriend is somewhat obsessed with pigs. Not the actual animal in real size but the cute piggy cartoons. So obviously cute pinkish little “oink”s remind me of him 🙂
    Great giveaway!
    Thanks,

Hi Sarah! Hmmm, pink. I don’t think I can explain my attraction to pink. Pink is very special and has a life and definition all of it’s own. Example: The new flavoured pump drink (berry blast, I think?) the only way I could describe the taste was “pink”. When everyone else tasted it they agreed. It tastes “pink”. Pink, a colour that not only “looks” and affects our feelings, but it tastes too!!! You can’t get much better than that!

What a difficult ask. There are so many things I LOVE pink but I think the best thing I can think of is/was the colour of our lips. Mine are fading as the years go on so I love that I can add my own colour. That would mean Lipstick then wouldn’t it.

I love pink because it is reminscent of childhood. It reminds me of my pink bedroom walls, attending ballet lessons in my pink leotard and jiffies, my pink tongue after sucking on a ‘Freeza’ icypole and thinking that anything ‘pink’ signified how much difference there was between the boys and the girls.

I think pink it’s the best colour, no matter what all the boring abstract art painters say. I’ve opened my msn id with te name of thinkpink for another good reason, but it still being my favourite one. When you think about pink, you think about girls. Girls think pink, as well.
