Let There Be Light…

August 13, 2010 By Spoonful of Sugar - 21 Comments

I finally got around to constructing a light box – I am not sure why I didn’t do it sooner as it was a super quick project. It was very easily made using the tutorial I found at Strobist a couple of years ago. I just used an old box and covered the sides and top with greaseproof paper. It now means that I can take decent photos in winter and at night. I just need to get a better lamp.

I had the chance to try out the Light Box today when my order of Divine Twine arrived from the lovely Anna at Thimbleanna Store. I think I will find all sorts of uses for my twine…

I have already put some to use on this gift. I made the tag on my cricut using the Cindy Loo cartridge.

My dear friend Janelle has recently opened an online store selling her gorgeous bags. Her attention to detail and workmanship are simply amazing. Janelle’s speciality are the lovely and original  Rose Bags – you  may recall the stunning deep red one that she gave me for my birthday (shown again below).  She also makes lots of other lovely styles too – pop on over to Janellybelly Bags and Things!

Have a great weekend – I hope to spend plenty of time in my craft room!

I always love reading your blog; it’s such an inspiration. Must get some of that twine. Thought of you when I saw some Japanese masking tape in a shop in Singapore a few weeks ago – and again in a newsagent’s in Lyon, France, when I asked if they stocked Marie Claire Idees (in faltering French, but it worked!)Thanks for sharing all the lovely things you do.

The pics look so very nice – good job. Amazing what a difference something relatively low-tech can make.

    The twine looks like fun.

Sharing a closer look at the Handy Drawstring Pouc Sharing a closer look at the Handy Drawstring Pouch today — a sweet little project that’s as practical as it is pretty. I stitched this one in the blue and gold colourway of the Tilda Songbird collection and love how the soft watercolour florals shine in a small make. The pouch features cleverly shaped panels (with no boxed corners), stands tall when in use, and folds completely flat for storage. It’s also reversible, which makes it such a fun and versatile sew.   These little pouches are perfect for organising your sewing room, gifting to a friend, or popping into a project bag.The pattern includes three sizes, and you can find it in both my Pattern Store and Etsy shop. Comment HANDY and I’ll send the link straight to your inbox.A big thank you to @tilda_australia for gifting the beautiful fabric.#tildasongbird #drawstringbagpattern #aspoonfulofsugardesigns #tildafabrics #sewingproject
