Do you love the Sleepy Cat Coaster but aren’t a fan of English Paper Piecing? You can quickly and easily make the coaster by using a fabric cheater print for the cat’s quilt.
Cheater print in quilting fabric is pre-printed fabric that simulates the appearance of a patchwork quilt. It is designed to look as if it’s made up of multiple, individually pieced blocks but in reality, it is a single piece of fabric. This is a great time saver as it eliminates the need the cut and sew together many different pieces of fabric. They are also a great option for beginners to practice their quilting skills without worrying about the piecing part of the construction.
In this cute Sleepy Cat Coaster, I’ve used a Japanese fabric that is similar to a cheater fabric in that it gives the appearance of lots of different fabrics and motifs pieced together. This made the coaster very quick to construct. This would be a times aver especially if you are sewing to sell at a market stall or in an Etsy store.
