Product Review: SOHMO Needles

Product Review: SOHMO Needles

If you love hand sewing, you know how important it is to have good quality needles. That’s why I’m excited to introduce you to SOHMO, a new brand of sewing needles that are made in Japan and designed to last for many years to come.

SOHMO needles are made of high carbon steel that is polished and tempered to create a smooth, strong and flexible needle. They glide through fabric with ease and resist bending or breaking. They are also very sharp, which means less effort and more accuracy when stitching. SOHMO needles are not only beautiful, but also durable and reliable. They are made in Hiroshima, Japan, a city with a long history of needle making. SOHMO honors this tradition by creating needles that will last for many years and bring joy to your sewing.

But what makes SOHMO needles even more special is their packaging. They come in cute tins with sliding lids that feature different pastel colors, making them a great gift for yourself or a fellow crafter. Each tin contains 20 needles of various sizes and types, so you can always find the right needle for your project.

If you want to try SOHMO needles for yourself, you can order them online from their website or find them in select stores. Trust me, once you use SOHMO needles, you won’t want to use anything else.

Here are the needles I have been using over the past couple of months to roadtest them.

Product Review: SOHMO Needles

Embroidery Needles: Embroidery needles have a long eye for easy threading of multiple strands of thread. They are ideal for embroidery and other hand sewing projects. These needles glide through the fabric with ease and are very sharp to produce nice even stitches.

Milliner’s Needles: Milliner needles are long, round-eyed needles for hand sewing, especially hat making, pleating and smocking. They are snag-free, sharp and strong, and made in Japan. I like using these for making small toys or when a slightly longer needle is required.

Easy Thread Needles: Suitable for embroidery and other hand sewing. Easy-thread needles can be quickly threaded without a needle threader – simply push the thread down into the top of the eye to thread the needle. Best for quick mending jobs and affixing buttons but can be used for a variety of sewing projects on light to medium fabrics. I have been using these to bury the ends of threads in quilts and for sewing on buttons.

Sharps Needles: Sharps are great all-purpose needles. Great for a wide variety of hand-sewing tasks on light to medium fabrics. I have been using these with English Paper Piecing projects.

Product Review: SOHMO Needles

Tapestry Needles: Tapestry needles feature a blunt, rounded point that does not damage material and makes for a more even stitch. These larger gauge needles are great for tapestry, long stitch, cross stitch, candlewicking and similar. I have been using these needles with cross stitch.

Australian Beeswax: SOHMO pure Australian beeswax is a natural product that strengthens and protects thread for embroidery and button sewing. It prevents thread abrasion and wear and tear, and has a light honey scent. It is unbleached, untreated and sterilised by heating.

Head to SOHMO to see more of their quality Sewing products. It makes such a difference when use quality sewing tools. You are worth it!

Hi thanks for sharing these needles. I was wondering if you do any big stitch hand quilting and which needle would you use for that? Thanks!
