My latest pattern, Star Pillow (2 Styles – Square and Rectangle) celebrates the Ohio Star block. This traditional block has been given a modern, minimalist vibe by setting it with low volume fabrics so that the brightly coloured, monochromatic stars really pop. The pattern includes two styles, so that you can make a rectangle or square pillow to suit your room.
Red Star Pillow looks very festive and will add holiday cheer to your decorating. The pillow is quilted in a simple cross hatch design. The pillow is finished with lovely satin piping and the rear of the pillow includes a zipper closure that is cleverly hidden by a fabric placket.
The rectangle pillow includes three star blocks. This one was constructed in assorted navy fabrics and it is a good scrap buster project. You can use fewer fabrics if you prefer or mix it up with a variety of coloured fabrics. The pattern includes a colouring sheet so you finalise your colour scheme prior to starting on the cutting/sewing.
The Ohio Star blocks are 4 1/2 inches (when finished). It is a good project to practice your half square and quarter square triangle construction. This pattern is suitable for a confident beginner or intermediate sewist.
