Chocolate Rough Slice is an old fashioned favourite treat. Baked with a chocolate base, it is topped with chocolate rough topping while still warm. The chocolate rough topping is made from cocoa, coconut, and condensed milk which is absolutely delicious. This is a favourite in our home and always takes me back to my childhood. My Mum would bake this for our school lunchboxes.
I have photographed the slice on a vintage tea set which belonged to my grandmother. I love vintage China with its pretty floral designs. If you would like to bake your own, check out our recipe below. It is guaranteed to be popular with your family. It is baked in a Brownie sized pan.

This recipe sounds delicious!! I’m confused on the pan size though. You indicate in your text that the pan size would be 10×15 inches, but in the recipe it says 7×11 inches. Which size would be best? Also, should these be stored in the refrigerator? That is, if they aren’t eaten all at once :o) . . .
Thank you for sharing the recipe!

Thanks for advising of this error – it has now been corrected. It is baked in a Brownie sized pan. The slice can be stored in the fridge – if it lasts that long! I have also frozen it after it has been cut into slices – perfect for popping in your lunchbox.
