Pear Crumble

April 16, 2014 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 3 Comments

Delicious Pear Crumble Dessert Recipe

Pears are in season, plentiful and cheap at the moment. Now that autumn is here, we are starting to enjoy more warming meals. I haven’t baked a dessert for ages – in summer we generally just have fresh fruit and ice-creams. It was lovely to prepare some pear crumbles to have following our Lamb Roast. I baked them in individual ramekins and we enjoyed them with some creamy vanilla custard. A delicious home style dessert.

Delicious Pear Crumble Dessert recipe

For this crumble recipe, the pears were firstly poached in maple syrup until just tender. The crumble is a mix of rolled oats and flour which give it a nice crunchy texture – a bit like an Anzac biscuit. This recipe also works well with apples, or a combination of apples and pears.

  5. Serve warm with custard.

Thanks Mel. You could poach the pears in water or apple juice. They just need to be poached so that the pear is softened and juicy before adding the crumble topping.
