Mother’s Day Gifts to Sew

April 20, 2014 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 4 Comments

Sew you Mother a gift for Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is not too far away so now is the time to start planning some gift projects for the Mothers, Grandmothers, or other special women in your life. Nothing means more to a mother than putting some effort into creating a one of a kind gift just for them. I loved the sweet gifts and cards that my children made for me when they were in primary school – I still have most of them as sweet reminders of their childhood. Many schools have Mother’s Day craft stalls and are always looking for items to sell. So if you need to make multiple items for a craft stall, check out these gifts to sew.

I hope you find some inspiration from these projects of easy gifts to sew- most are fairly quick to make and are suitable for beginner to intermediate sewers. Click on the link above each image to be taken to the our original tutorial which features all the project instructions and step by step photos.

1. Pot Holder

Mother’s who love to cook and bake, will appreciate a pretty little pot holder.

5. Hexie Pillowcase

Make a lovely pillowcase which features some hand sewn hexies. This is a great way to use special fabric scraps. Find lots of pretty floral fabrics for a sweet pillowcase.

6. Eiffel Tower Bath Mitt

A bath mitt featuring an Eiffel Tower appliqué, is a fun gift. Add some special soap/bath gel and Mum can have a relaxing bubble bath.

7. Knitting and Crochet Project Pouch

Mums who love to knit and crochet will love a project pouch for taking projects on the go. It features a handy tape measure sewn into the lining.

8. Pyjama Bag

Make a drawstring pyjama bag and fill it with some new pyjamas or lounge pants. The bag is great when travelling to keep your pyjamas separate from your other clothing.
