After a couple of hours of recreational sewing today, I had my first finish of 2014! I am still getting used to using my new Pfaff Quilt Expression 4.2. Before I tackle a quilt, I wanted to work on a few smaller projects.
I generally start off the new year organising things at home. In the past couple of days, I have packed away the Christmas tree and decorations, purchased the school books/supplies, and tidied up cupboards in the kitchen and bedrooms. There is something about a new year that makes me want to start everything off fresh and organised. Please tell me I am not the only one who does this?
My potholders and oven gloves were in a dreadful state, so a new pot holder was in order! I was inspired by the Starbright Pot Holder but instead of going wonky, I made a Star Block using this tutorial. The finished block was trimmed to 10 1/2 inches square which makes a good sized pot holder. I think I will make up a few more while I am at it. It feels good to be more organised… now I just have to work on the craft room.
