10 Simple Christmas Table Ideas

December 9, 2015 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 4 Comments

What we love most about Christmas is celebrating the holiday with our extended family. It is so lovely to spend time together, share delicious food and create holiday memories. We like to plan ahead as much as possible so there is no stress on the day. We are hosting Christmas lunch this year for 17 adults. Even with a large family, we still love to make our Christmas table special with sweet festive touches. We visited our local Target store for some inspiration. Their Christmas range is wonderful and they had plenty of affordable items that are perfect for our Metallic Christmas theme – gold, silver, rose gold, white and black.

Here are our top 10 Simple Christmas Table Ideas:

10 Simple Christmas Table ideas

1. Mix and Match Dinnerware

When catering for a crowd, mix and match your existing dinnerware with some new pieces to create fun arrangements. We have matched white dinnerware with Christmas Celebrate side plates and a clear glass bowl. We found the perfect placemats to match our theme.

Place a bauble at each setting to add interest and fun.

3. Use a Poinsettia as your Centrepiece

Plants last longer than flowers, and a pointettia is perfect for Christmas. Love the white poinsettia we found at our local florist. It looks perfect in the Lisa T Rose Gold Planter which co-ordinates with the Lisa T Naughty or Nice Canister (which we have filled with chocolates).

5. Bonbons

My grandmother used to bring the Christmas Crackers/Bonbons to our Christmas celebrations when I was a child and they are part of our Christmas tradition. We found the perfect gold bonbons.

6. Use Place Cards

Place cards make your guests feel special. We made our own by incorporating s silver metallic name label, washi tape, star, and decorated peg. They can be easily pegged to a glass or napkin.

7. Add some Table Scatters

Use a craft punch to cut out stars and scatter them on your table for an instant party feel.

8. Use Cloth Napkins

Cloth napkins add class and style to your table. We dressed up some simple white napkins with string, pine cones, and a sprig of fresh pine. Simple but effective.

9. Use Festive Glassware

Drinking champagne (or a mocktail) from champagne glasses adds a festive touch to your meal. We found these affordable Milan flutes which are shown on the Celebrate Sandwich Platter.

One of our Christmas traditions is that we always have a delicious assortment of special chocolates to our table.
