Washi Tape Project

July 24, 2013 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 10 Comments

Most of our china and tableware is plain white. I love the simplicity and timeless appeal of white china and it really showcases the food, but it can be rather boring. I recently spotted some lovely ceramics on Pinterest that had been painted with a bunting design. That got me to thinking that washi tape would be the perfect way to add some temporary colour to plain tableware for a party or special occasion. It can easily be peeled off when you are tired of the design.

For this washi tape project, you need some plain tableware and a selection of washi tape. Cut the washi tape in little flags and stick around the edge of the plates/jugs etc.

I used a trio of washi tape in pinks and oranges – colourful and fun. I even had some paper napkins to match.

Check out our some of our popular washi tape projects:

  • Valentine Boxes
  • Washi Tape Wrapping Paper
  • Washi Tape Memo Holder
  • Washi Tape Drink Labels

Nidhi – it is only a temporary decoration. You could probably hand wash and use it it a few times but it would peel off. If you want a more permanent effect, I would use ceramic paint.

All of our plates/tableware is white too…goes with everything but can be so, plain. What a great way to dress it up for an occasion or event!
