One of the most enjoyable aspects of preparing for the holidays, is making ornaments and decorations for my home. I love to mix up the colours each year to give a different look. Making your own decorations allows you to slow down, enjoy the season, and create one of a kind decorations. My latest pattern is Tree Charms – three little ornaments to hang on your tree, use as gift toppers, or include in your table setting.

Tree Charms includes three styles of tree to foundation paper piece. I used fabric scraps in shades of green and teal on a white/light low volume pbackground for a scrappy look. This pattern is suitable for confident beginners of foundation paper piecing and includes general instructions for foundation paper piecing.

The Tree Charms are sized to fit in a 3-inch embroidery hoop which makes them an ideal size to hang on your tree. I bought three inch hoops in bulk so I have plenty on hand. They are useful for so many little projects.

I used gingham ribbon for the hanging loop and finished off the Tree Charms with a small polka dot bow. You can decorate the embroidery hoop however you like – wrap ribbon around the outside, glue on pompom trim, or use a painted hoop. So many possibilities to customise this project.
