Tilda Harvest Blog Hop

July 29, 2017 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 5 Comments

Tilda Harvest Blog Hop

I am a big fan of the beautiful fabric designed by Tone Finnanger from Tildas World. Her latest fabric collection, Harvest, could well be my favourite. Who can resist the pretty floral and bird prints, in gorgeous shades of pink, lavender, orange, green and blue? I certainly can’t! Today is my stop on the Tilda Harvest Blog Hop and I had a lot of fun creating with this sweet fabric over the past few weeks.

The colours of the fabric look so pretty stacked in my sewing room – I was a bit reluctant to cut into them but so glad I did. The small scale prints are perfect for English paper piecing.

I have designed a new sewing pattern to really showcase the pretty fabrics in this range – the Allsorts Pillow. The pieced blocks, set on point, remind me of licorice allsorts with all their lovely layers. I am putting the finishing touches to the pattern and hope to release it in the next week, so stay tuned!

I have recently updated my computer nook at home and given it more of a Scandi inspired look. I made some Harvest Leaf Coasters to match. I will be writing this up as a tutorial in the coming weeks, so watch out for this! You can find the tutorial here.

Using my Retro Drawstring Bag Tutorial, I made a trio of Harvest Drawstring Bags. You can read more about this project on the Harvest Drawstring Bag post. The tutorial to make your own, can be found here. These little bags are perfect to package a small gift. They are a fun quick make – it is hard to stop at one!

I always love to use all my little “scraps” from bigger projects, especially when the fabric is as pretty as Harvest. You can find the “how to” to make your own Happy Scrappy Cards, here.

Tilda Harvest fabric will be released on August 1, so ask for it at your favourite quilt shop. A big thanks to Two Green Zebras for providing this lovely stack of Tilda Harvest to use in this blog post.

Tilda always makes such pretty fabrics. I love the drawstring bags and am hoping to make a few over the summer holidays to put away as Christmas presents. I really can see why the cushion reminds you of liquorice allsorts. x
