If you are like me, you probably love a good scrap sewing session to use some of your treasured scraps so they don’t take over your sewing room. I love to make FPP quilt blocks with my scraps after a larger project and then I have these little quilt blocks ready to include in smaller projects. My latest foundation paper piecing quilt block pattern is the String Star Quilt Block. I used scraps in mustard, teal, rust and peach.
The String Star Quilt block is a two section design. When you assemble four of these blocks it creates a String Star (see image above) or a Spider Web (see image below). I love the versatility of this little block. If you made a quilt or mini quilt from this design, it would create both layouts. This is a fun block to experiment with different colours and make secondary patterns, or use just use rainbow strings for a muti coloured, scrappier version. So many options.
The String Star block (as shown below) is available in 5 sizes – 2 inches, 3 inches, 4 inches, 5 inches and 6 inches. The pattern includes templates in both A4 and Letter Size to suit your home printer. You can easily print at home so you always have enough templates on hand for your next project.
String Star FPP block is available in our Pattern Shop and Etsy Store for immediate download. You will receive a 17 page ePattern which includes templates, introduction to Foundation Paper Piecing, colouring sheet and lots of photographs of the block.
