Star Table Runner - A Spoonful of Sugar

I love the new Tilda fabric range, Cotton Beach, which will be released on 1 February 2022. The fabric has sea motifs, including a lovely large scale coral print in four colourways, which was perfect for my new table runner design. The Star Table Runner features three Ohio Star blocks which are set on point. It is a great size for a console table or dining table. This version adds a coastal vibe with the shell, urchin, and coral inspired prints.

The Star Table Runner PDF Sewing Pattern is available in our Pattern Store and Etsy Shop. It is an 11 page pattern and includes a colouring-in sheet to assist with the fabric planning. You can make the table runner minimal or bold – the choice is yours. It works well using a large scale print for the setting triangles – especially if they are the same print in four different colourways which gives a more cohesive look.

This table runner pattern is suitable for a confident beginner to learn some basic patchwork skills. As it only includes three blocks, it can be easily made in less than a day. It is a great project to use a favourite fat quarter collection.

You can adapt the table runner and add additional star blocks if you prefer a longer runner – the choice in yours. Simply adapt the size of the batting, backing, and binding fabric to suit.
