A Spoonful of Sugar Sew Along

I really hope you have enjoyed the A Spoonful of Sugar Blog Hop Book Tour over the past few weeks. It has been an opportunity to see many of the projects from my book, A Spoonful of Sugar. I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of my wonderful online friends, who have given so freely of their time to make up a project or two to help promote my book. As you can see from the collage below, they have made some amazing projects.  For more details on all the talented makers and their wonderful projects, check out the A Spoonful of Sugar Blog Tour Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, and Part 5.

A Spoonful of Sugar Book Tour

In a few days we will be starting A Spoonful of Sugar Sew Along over on Instagram. This is an opportunity for you to join in the fun and make a project or two from A Spoonful of Sugar. Share progress shots of your projects, as well as your completed items, to be in the running to win some great prizes. Be sure to use the hashtag  #ASPOONFULOFSUGARSAL

Instagram Sew Along will run from June 1 – August 9.  There will be five rounds, each lasting for two weeks which will give you plenty of time to complete a project or two from the book.  In addition, there will be a Grand Prize round (running from August 10-16) where anyone who has made 3 or more items from A Spoonful of Sugar, can submit a collage of their projects, to be in the running to win our Grand Prize. Amy Sinibaldi from Nana Company is our Guest Judge. Prizes are generously sponsored by Alisha Orlando from Ministry of Fabric – an online fabric store which has a gorgeous selection of fabrics from quilters, sewers, and crafters!

The winner of Round 1 will win this lovely prize bundle shown below – which includes: 5 fat quarters of Memoire A Paris , 3 beautiful buttons & 2 spools of Aurifil Floss. This beautiful prize has been curated by Alisha from Ministry of Fabric. I am sure it will inspire some wonderful zakka projects!

Excellent Mara – so glad you are joining in! Basically you can make anything from the book – post progress photos on instagram using the hashtag. Follow along and visit others who are also sewing and we can all support and encourage each other.

I love to make things for my granddaughters as well as for my etsy shop and custom items for my home-based sewing business clients. I also enjoy making things for my dogs and cats.

Hi Lesley – The templates are available on CD only. Let me contact the publisher as they were planning a download option for those without CD readers.

That would be great, I’ll probably get the book anyway….. My granddaughter has fallen in love with the panda purse and I’ll struggle without the template I think!
        With thanks, Lesley

Sharing a closer look at the Handy Drawstring Pouc Sharing a closer look at the Handy Drawstring Pouch today — a sweet little project that’s as practical as it is pretty. I stitched this one in the blue and gold colourway of the Tilda Songbird collection and love how the soft watercolour florals shine in a small make. The pouch features cleverly shaped panels (with no boxed corners), stands tall when in use, and folds completely flat for storage. It’s also reversible, which makes it such a fun and versatile sew.   These little pouches are perfect for organising your sewing room, gifting to a friend, or popping into a project bag.The pattern includes three sizes, and you can find it in both my Pattern Store and Etsy shop. Comment HANDY and I’ll send the link straight to your inbox.A big thank you to @tilda_australia for gifting the beautiful fabric.#tildasongbird #drawstringbagpattern #aspoonfulofsugardesigns #tildafabrics #sewingproject
