A Spoonful of Sugar: Sew 20 Simple Projects to Sweeten Your Surroundings by Lisa Cox

I am so excited to announce that my book, A Spoonful of Sugar: Sew 20 Simple Projects to Sweeten Your Surroundings Zakka Style is being released on April 26, 2016 (it is already shipping from Amazon). It has always been a dream of mine to write a sewing book so I was delighted when F & W Media approached me about publishing a collection of simple sewing projects. The process has taken around 2 years so it is wonderful to finally have a copy of the book in my hands. Sarah and I started our sewing/craft/baking blog in 2008, and it is through the encouragement of our readers and support of the online community that we have continued to share our ideas and projects.

A Spoonful of Sugar: Sew 20 Simple Projects to Sweeten Your Surroundings by Lisa Cox

A Spoonful of Sugar includes a collection of 20 sewing projects that are suitable for a beginner to intermediate sewist. I have included a range of different techniques including: patchwork, raw edge appliqué, embroidery, sashiko, and crochet. There are plenty of options for putting your own creative flair on the projects. Projects are divided into five chapters – For the Home; For the Bedroom; For the Kitchen: For the Sewing Room; and For Children. The projects are fun to make for yourself or to give as gifts, and most can be easily constructed in an afternoon or weekend – perfect for time poor crafters! In fact with Mothers Day fast approaching, this book would make a wonderful gift for your Mum, or you could make her one of the projects for a heartfelt handmade gift. You will be pleased to know that all the pattern pieces are on a CD and can be easily printed at full size from your home printer.

To celebrate the launch of the book, some of my online friends are joining together with me in a Virtual Book Blog Tour. They will each be making one of the projects from the book and it will be fun to see their interpretation of the designs. The Book Tour will take us around the world – with talented bloggers from Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, Turkey, Japan and Thailand, joining in the fun. We really hope you will follow along with us. Check out the full schedule with links to the participating blogs and instagram feeds below:

Hiya! Beautiful book! I have loved your work for a few years now. I live in Perth too and I am wondering if I can buy your book locally? I’m in Mount Hawthorn and curious if I can locate it nearby. Perhaps at a local shop! Cheers! Keep up the gorgeous work!

Hi Christine – thanks for your kind words 🙂 I am not sure of any shops locally that are carrying it. I do know it is available on the Angus and Robertson online store, as well as Booktopia and Book Depository (free online shipping). As soon as I hear of any local stockists, I will be sure to let readers know.

I bought the book a few years back and haven’t had time to make anything. Now I have time, but I don’t have a CD drive anymore. Is there a way for me to get the templates to download? Thanks, Kristin Lucero
