Introducing the Ribbon Gift Box. I am on a quest to be more sustainable and eco friendly in my gift wrapping choices. I have made a number of gift totes but some gifts are better presented in a box. The Ribbon Gift Box is an ideal way to package a gift for a special occasion – birthday, wedding, anniversary, Mother’s Day, Christmas, Halloween and more! It is like giving two gifts in one when your gift item is presented in a treasured keepsake box.
The Ribbon Gift Box is a fun make that is constructed from three different fabrics. Two of the flaps have eyelet grommets which give a professional finish. The luxurious satin ribbon is threaded through the grommets and tied in a bow.
I’ve designed the Ribbon Gift Box to use four pre-cut 10 inch squares of fabric (also known as Layer Cake squares) or fat quarters. This is a great way to use some of the fabrics in your stash. In the Ribbon Gift Boxes I’ve used a medium weight interfacing which allows them to be self-standing. You can also fold them for storage and then give them a quick press when you are ready to use.
Combining different fabrics is so much fun. In this Ribbon Gift Box I’ve used three fabrics from Ruby Star Society for a bright and modern effect. The lime fabric in the lining adds an unexpected pop of colour.
The panels come together to form an effective base.
