Relaxation Eye Pillow is my latest quick, beginner friendly sewing pattern. Pretty and practical – don’t you think? The patchwork front is easily made from 5-inch charm squares. They are a great way to use your orphan charm squares or other fabric “scraps”.
The Relaxation Eye Pillow is weighted. It is filled with flaxseed, lupins, wheat, rice or the grain of your choice. Simply add dried lavender to the filling to create a lovely relaxing scent. You can find the grains in your local supermarket, health food store or wholefoods shop. Dried lavender can be found in large craft stores or online. Alternatively, you can dry your own lavender. I add a few drops of lavender essential oil to the mix for added scent. There is something about the scent of lavender that makes you feel relaxed.
The pattern includes instructions to add an optional elastic strap.
Weighted eye pillows are great for relieving stress and can be used during yoga and meditation. Cool it in the freezer to provide a welcome relief for headaches and tired eyes. You can also heat to body temperature in your microwave for a warming treat.
I used fabric from the Reverie range by Ruby Star Society in these eye pillows. This is a great design to make and sell. You are able to make and sell items from my patterns on a small, handmade scale. Please credit A Spoonful of Sugar Designs for the pattern.
The Relaxation Eye Pillow is a 10 page PDF pattern with full sized templates and loads of step-by-step instructions and photos. It is available in our Pattern Store and Etsy shop.
