There is a lot to be said for the therapeutic benefits of sewing. Life has certainly been challenging lately. Concern over elderly family members and family members with high risk medical conditions, together with working long hours, has left little energy or inclination to be creative. I knew I needed a colourful scrappy project to get my “sew-jo” back.
Never has it been more imperative to be prepared. I have supplies of tissues, disposable gloves, cold/flu tablets, antibacterial gel in my handbag and car. Now my pocket tissues and other essential items are close at hand with this little patchwork pocket pouch. It includes a tissue pocket to hold a stash of tissues, as well as a handy pocket to hold paracetamol, band aids, disposable gloves or whatever else you may need.
I delved into my colour coded scrap bags to find the perfect fabrics to make this bright trio. Combining colourful fabrics with low volume prints brings me joy.
Colourful patchwork, text prints, polka dots and trims – it is always satisfying to turn some odds and ends into a fun little project.
These colourful patchwork pocket pouches can be easily constructed in under 90 minutes. Make a batch to give to friends and family. You can find the pattern in my Etsy store. Perfect way to get your “sew jo” back in these uncertain times.

I just placed an order for this pattern, and one other from your Etsy shop. My daughters like to carry around a tissue pack that is not the right style for this holder. However, you mentioned putting disposable gloves in the back pocked of the holder, which gave me the idea that, for my daughters, the gloves can be put in the tissue holder area! Then the other pocket can hold whatever else they desire! I’m looking forward to making a couple of these pouches.
