Patchwork Gifts Book Review and Tour

February 24, 2020 By A Spoonful of Sugar - Leave a Comment

Patchwork Gifts, 20 Charming Patchwork Projects to Give and Keep is the newly released and much anticipated book by the talented Elise Baek from Elise and Emelie. It is packed full of sweet and practical items to make for yourself or to give as gifts. Patchwork Gifts includes 20 beautiful projects including a pillow, quilt, bags, organiser, coasters, and other home decor items. Projects are suitable for the confident beginner and include a variety of techniques including sewing, patchwork, English paper piecing, and applique. There are plenty of tips for customising the projects with special ribbons, trims, and other sweet details to really make the project your own. The projects are all beautifully photographed with loads of step by step illustrations to guide you through the assembly process.

The hard part was deciding which project to make first! I couldn’t resist the Mushroom Pincushion Ornament featured on the front cover. I love the Liberty pincushions but decided to go with a classic red and white polka dot mushroom. It looks perfect with my vintage Singer machine. The instructions are clearly written and come with full size templates and tips to get a great result.

The frilled fabric around the top of the stem cleverly hides the hand stitching underneath. The pattern includes the option of adding a string so that it can double as an ornament. These would look amazing hanging on a Christmas tree or Easter tree.

Next up I made a Heaven Scent Kite Lavender Sachet. This was also a quick make and adds some colour and scent to a bulletin board. It would also look great as a gift topper for a baby shower gift, don’t you think?

The kite was quick to assemble and fill with stuffing and lavender.

I recently rediscovered my vintage collection of Trixie Beldon books – a favourite childhood read!

Patchwork Gifts, by Elise Baek for Tuva Publishing is bursting with inspiring projects and is available now from Amazon.  We hope you will follow along on the Blog Tour to find out more about this gorgeous book.
