Every week day we take a packed lunch to work, school and university. It is so convenient to have a freshly prepared lunch on hand to eat on your break. No need to queue up at a shop or canteen to purchase lunch, and the food is generally healthier and cheaper if you make your own. We always have lots of freshly baked treats and fresh fruit to add to our lunch box. We get tired of sandwiches and rolls, so we mix it up with a bento style lunch, salads, or heat up some left overs. One way to add more interest to your lunchbox is to pack some co-ordinating utensils/napkins and pop them in a paper bag. This idea would be great for outdoor entertaining, picnics, and parties.
For a bento style lunch, we packed our favourite polka dot chopsticks. We had some cute kokeshi doll pegs in our craft supplies and added a label – Itadakimasu means “good eating” in Japanese.
We found the little fish shaped soy sauce bottles at Daiso (100 yen store) in Japan.
We packed some supplies for a French style lunch.
We wrapped some salt and pepper in baking paper and popped them into a small glassine bag.
