Sleepy Cat Coaster has been our most popular new release pattern for 2024. Who can resist a sleepy kitty snuggled up under a quilt made of English paper pieced hexagons? This sweet coaster can be easily made in an afternoon and customised for the different holidays. I made this Sleepy Cat Coaster for Halloween.
I had a charm pack of Tiny Frights by Ruby Star Society in my stash. The small scale Halloween prints were perfect for this project. I combined fabrics in shade of black, charcoal, mustard, purple, and pink for the quilt. I added orange ricrac trim for contrast. I used a light grey blender print for the kitty. It was finished off with a face cut from heat transfer vinyl.
The Sleepy Cat Coaster comes with options for the face. It has svg file so you can cut a face from heat transfer vinyl using a cutting machine such as Silhouette, Cricut, or Brother Scan and Cut. It also includes a template if you prefer embroidery.
This is a fun pattern to make for all the cat lovers in your life and makes an ideal gift. Shown below is one I recently made from Christmas fabric from the Tilda Creating Memories Winter collection.
If you like to give handmade gifts, this is a great pattern. If you are new to English paper Piecing, it is a beginner friendly project and includes illustrated instructions to guide you through the construction.
You can find the pattern for the Sleepy Cat Coaster in our Pattern Store and Etsy Shop.
