Getting Organised in 09!

January 5, 2009 By Spoonful of Sugar - 74 Comments

Thanks for all your New Year wishes. Our New Year has got off to a great start with lots of family time, relaxing, dvd’s, and crafting. We are heading off on a family holiday in a few days so things may be a bit quiet around here for a week or two!

If your goal for 2009 is to be more organised, here are a couple of great ideas to get you started!

Memo Door Hanger

Taking messages and keeping track of important events is easy with this decoupaged Memo Hanger.

Materials

Wooden door hanger
Acrylic paint
Scrap booking paper
Mod podge or other decoupage sealant
Double sided foam strips
Sticky notes
Pen
Ribbon

Paint the wooden door hanger. Trace the shape of the hanger on the scrap booking paper and cut it out. Apply a coat of Mod Podge to the top of the door hanger and adhere the paper. Smooth out any bubbles by wiping with a soft, dry coth. Allow to dry overnight, and then apply 2-3 coats of Mod Podge to seal the paper, allowing time to dry between coats. Attach the pad of sticky notes with double sided foam tape. Tie a ribbon around a pen and attach to the door hanger.

Magnetic Clipboard

Keep track of important newsletters, household bills or take out menus with this funky clipboard. Transform a mini magnetic clipboard with some stylish stationery or scrap booking paper, and place it on your fridge to organise your paperwork.

Materials:
Mini chipboard magnetic clipboard
1 sheet of Scrap booking paper
Acrylic paint
Mod Podge or other decoupage glue/sealer

Paint the back and edges of your clipboard to co-ordinate with your paper. Trace the outline of your clipboard onto the paper and cut it out. Apply a thin coat of Mod Podge to the top of the clipboard with a foam brush and then place the paper on top. You may need to rub gently with a soft cloth to remove any bubbles in the paper. Allow to dry overnight. Apply 2-3 coats of Mod Podge over the top of the paper to seal it. Allow to dry in between each coat.

Happy 12th Birthday Sarah!

My sweet daughter turns 12 tomorrow! Sarah is such a wonderful daughter who shares my love of sewing, crafts, baking and reading! Sarah is very innovative and creative in her own right, and we are having so much fun collaborating together on this blog.  She is a caring, helpful, and sensitive girl. I couldn’t ask for a better daughter. Have a wonderful birthday Sarah!

Thanks for the ideas. If your daughter is 12 and you have a good relationship now you’re probably going to be okay. Hang in there over the teenage years; they’re bumpy. My daughter is in her 20s and she is my best friend!
