Even though we live in Western Australia and usually have hot weather at Christmas, there is something magical about snowy Christmas scenes. We are celebrating Christmas over lunch with 17 of our extended family this year. The weather forecast is in and it looks like we will have a very pleasant 27 deg C which is a lot cooler than usual. We have decided to eat outside which will suit a larger group. Just in case there is a strong sea breeze, we need table decorations which won’t blow away!
Inspired by the DIY snow globes I have seen on Pinterest, I made some snowy scenes in a large jar. It was a 5 minute project – it could not be any easier! A DIY Snow jar is a like a little terrarium.
Make up the fake snow (according to the directions on the can) and add to a bottom of a large jar. Add a few little bottlebrush or sisal trees and a pickup truck, and you are done!
The snow looks surprising real and adds a fun little centrepiece to our outdoor table. DIY Snow jar is a fun last minute Christmas project.
We also assembled some cutlery jars for a festive outdoor meal. We tied a set of cutlery together using gold ribbon, and placed it in a bonne maman jar with a folded napkin and a sprig of pine. Natural spring was tied around the outside of the jar.
