Each night I light my oil burner or scented candles and it makes our living room so inviting. I decorated matchboxes with Christmas paper and the Christmas Matchboxes look so festive on our coffee table.
Christmas Matchboxes project is a variation of our Fabric Covered Matchboxes tutorial. They are so quick to decorate and would make lovely little gifts to partner with scented candles and essential oils. I am going to make up a batch of these to include with some Christmas gifts.
If you would like to make your own you will need:
- boxes of matches
- Christmas themed scrapbooking paper (or recycle old Christmas cards/gift tags)
- glue stick or double sided adhesive sheets
Simply measure the front of the matchbox. Cut a two pieces of Christmas card to size – one for the front and one for the back of the matchbox. Attach to the matchbox using glue, double sided adhesive tape, or double sided adhesive sheets cut to size. Make sure you leave the strip on the side for striking the matches free of any embellishment.
I used Kaiser Craft Mint Wishes paper collection for my matchboxes. You could add additional embellishments – buttons, stickers etc. Christmas matchboxes is a fun craft activity for children. For safety sake, supervise children and consider giving them the empty box to decorate with the matches removed.
