Cherry Bucket

June 2, 2009 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 85 Comments

Firstly, we would just like to thank Rachel from One Pretty Thing for featuring Sarah’s Handbag Gift Card Tutorial on her awesome site!

Inspired by this embroidered cherry tree in Marie Claire Idees…..

……..I stitched up my version on some cream linen.

After admiring the lovely coffee sack buckets on Maya*Made, I decided to make my own version using natural hessian, red/white checked fabric from Ikea, and some unbleached calico. I turned my stitchery into a pocket on the front, and added a small piece of printed linen to the back for embellishment.

It is quite a sizeable bucket (12 x 12 x 12 inches) – my DH thought it would be perfect for storing potatoes!! I wish we had an orchard as I can just picture it filled with apples. Instead I have made a use for it in the sewing room storing some of my supplies.  I really love the different textures in this project. I am already dreaming up some other projects for my hessian.

We would like to thank Dana from Quilted Librarian for giving us an award recently! Much appreciated 🙂

You know how I like a bag with some embroidery on it. Looks cherry-licious–much too pretty for potatoes, but I’m sure the potatoes would like to live in that bag! LOL!
