Looking for some spring time sewing inspiration? Nothing says spring quite like bunnies, gingham and flowers. My latest design, Bunny Placemat is a fun addition to your Easter table. Quickly constructed from pretty gingham, the placemat features a fluffy tail and ears to add a textural element.
I had the perfect retro bunny fabric in my stash in a rainbow of colours. I fussy cut little bunnies running and jumping and turned them into 3/4 inch hexies. Using the English Paper Piecing method, I made a little hexie flower to add to the bunny for added interest.
For the tail and ears I used white polar fleece. You could use white minky or fur. It adds a lovely touch having a soft and fluffy feature.
For the gingham, I used a 1/4 inch plaid . It would also look great with the gingham set on the diagonal. You could make a set of Bunny Placemats in a rainbow of colours for each member of the family.
You can find the Bunny Placemat ePattern in our Pattern Store and Etsy shop for immediate download. It includes full sized templates and lots of step by step instructions. This pattern is suitable for the confident beginner or intermediate sewist. Hippity Hop.
