Box Pouch

August 4, 2013 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 18 Comments

I love little patchwork projects that use your treasured scraps. I needed a quick project to take along to my sewing group this week so settled on the Triangle Box Pouch from Patchwork Please! by Ayumi Takahashi.

I constructed it using red, white and blue fabrics. I substituted triangles for rectangles and lined the pouch with cotton batting and quilted it in lots of straight lines to give it more structure. To finish off, I added a Parisian patch, my monogram from French Laundry Tape, and some cotton lace.

The pouch is a good size for make-up/toiletries, or sewing supplies. I have already selected some pretty fabrics for my next pouch.

You can see the pincushion I made from Patchwork Please! over here.

I just spotted your pouch on Pinterest and came over for a peek – it is GORGEOUS! I love all the pretty little touches – the quilting, the tags, the lace, the prints you chose – just perfect! (And I bet it’ll get quite a few pins/repins, lol!)

I love your bag, beautiful work. I was also very excited to see the cotton lace, I have looked in quite a few stores in Melbourne and online but can’t find that lace in ecru, I found a slightly smaller version from China and have tea dyed some but would love to be able to buy more can you please tell me where you purchased it? If you’re interested this is where I use it on cute baby shoes http://www.madeit.com.au/Main/Item?itemId=821508

What a lovely little pouch, I love the details you’ve incorporated into the design, these little touches make all the difference don’t they?

Oh, this is just darling! I already have that book, so I’m very excited to know I can try making one of my own! I barely recognized it, because you didn’t use the triangles, and now I know I will stick to squares when I make one for myself. Love it!
