Seasonal projects are so much fun to sew and are a great way to freshen up your decor throughout the year. If you are heading into autumn / fall, then how about stitching up a set of Patchwork Acorn Coasters? In this sweet duo, I used the soon to be released Tilda Hometown and My Neighbourhood fabric ranges. The pretty autumnal tones in these new fabric collections worked well for this project.
The Patchwork Acorn Coaster features a courthouse steps variation of the traditional log cabin block. The scrappy patchwork centre is a great way to use different fabrics from the same colour family. Finish it off with an acorn cap in a contrasting colour, and a twill tape stalk.
This is a beginner friendly pattern which can be easily made in an afternoon. Perfect for time poor crafters like me! I work 40+ hours a week in the day job so only have limited time on the weekends to sew, write, and photograph my patterns. It is wonderful to have a completed project after an hour or two of sewing.
The Patchwork Acorn Coasters are sized to use as a coaster or mug rug. Plenty of room for a generous sized cup of tea.
Tilda Hometown and My Neighbourhood will be released on 1 October 2022. Ask for it at your local quilt store. Thanks to Tilda Australia for providing the pre-release fabric used in this project.
