I was cleaning out my wardrobe last weekend and sorting through my clothes. On the top shelf of my wardrobe I have stored my wedding dress, shoes, veil, wedding cards, and other mementos from our wedding. Of course I got side tracked in my cleaning and spent time reminiscing…. I have always told Sarah that I was keeping my Bridal Dress for her to wear (much to her horror – as the early 1990’s was not the best era for bridal couture!) She was most relieved when she passed me in height.
Here is a Bridal Shoe Bag I have made to store my wedding shoes. It is made from cream muslin, with an ivory satin ribbon drawstring. It features a square of beige linen that has a heart from white/cream/ecru buttons. The muslin is a loose weave so allows the shoes to “breathe”.
Pop a lavender bag inside and it will be perfect to store and protect treasured shoes. Drawstring bag measures: 11 x 19 inches (28 x 48 cm).
YES! And mine is old fashioned too- late 1981, three months after Charles and Di! But much more restrained in design! I know for sure I wouldn’t fit into it!!
Bom dia
We married in 1982. My dress had the big poofy sleeves and I too had a perm. ;p My hair was about the same length as yours. Took FOREVER to get a perm. FOREVER. ;p
Just yesterday I saw Diana’s wedding gown (from 1981) at an exhibit, they’ve kept it in such good shape all these years ~ it has such a long train, fun to be able to see it in person & up close. I have kept my wedding gown, but I did cut into it to sew my daughter her Baptismal gown: http://nestfullofeggs.blogspot.com/2011/05/baptism-traditions.html
great design for bridal shoe and thanks for sharing your post. i am going to share this post to my sister wall. i am a man and do a lot of research than my sister so i must inform her about it. big thanks again.
I have my dress still from 2000. It was at my mother in laws for 10 years and has been hanging in my unused ensuite for 2. My daughter is only 8 so she would still say she will wear it. Let’s see how she feels when she is older. Your dress was lovely 🙂

What a lovely idea Lisa. My wedding dress is in a wardrobe at my mums house, haven’t looked at in years.
Xx
Your dress is similar to mine and I still have mine as well and love teasing my daughter about how she can wear it.

What’s wrong with that dress. Wait another 10 years and it’ll be back in style;).
