Money Bags

Money Bags - drawstring gift bags by A Spoonful of Sugar www.aspoonfulofsugardesigns.com

Hello friends! It is hard to believe that it has been over 3 months since my last post. In the 10 years that I have been blogging, that is the longest break I have had. Not only did I stop blogging, but I also stepped away from social media and became “unplugged” for a while. The break has done me the world of good. I am now feeling refreshed and ready to be creative again. I have kept busy –  working more hours in my day job, baking, planning holidays, and caught up on my reading. I have also started a couple of larger projects – a quilt and a crocheted blanket – for family members.

It is a long weekend here in Western Australia this weekend to celebrate WA Day. For the first time in quite a while I felt like sewing, so I made a duo of little drawstring bags. With there rounded bottom, they remind me of Money Bags. They are perfectly sized to hold small items of jewellery or little gifts. I have a couple of birthdays coming up so will pop some goodies into the money bags – that way the packaging will be just as pretty as the gift itself!

The Money Bags are made using Memoire a Paris by Lecien Fabrics. It is a beautiful soft cotton lawn which gathers up beautifully when the drawstrings are pulled. I partnered the floral lawn with grey gingham and lace. Who can resist floral and gingham? Such a classic combination.

Memoire a Paris is such a pretty collection of small scale florals. This is from a collection a year or two ago – new designs are being added to the collection.

I love the ‘”money bags” you feature, it says there is a tutorial, but I can’t find it.

Am I missing something. I would like to make them for the ladies attending my
    quilt retreat.
