Rottnest Island Holiday

April 24, 2014 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 4 Comments

Rottnest Island 1

You may recall from our Easter Getaway Tips post last week, that we were spending a few days on Rottnest Island with our extended family over the Easter break. We are so lucky to have Rottnest Island off our coast. On a clear day, we can even see it from our home.  It is a great place to enjoy coastal activities of swimming, boating, snorkelling, surfing etc. The best way to get around and explore the island is on a bicycle.

Rottnest Island 2

We had glorious autumn weather and it was even warm enough to go swimming.  It was lovely sitting in the sun, just relaxing and taking in the fresh sea air and beautiful vista.

Rottnest Island 5 (1)

There was hardly a cloud in the sky and the water was so blue.  We found time to read, play board games, go for walks, play tennis, and enjoy treats from the Rottnest bakery.

Rottnest Island 3

We saw a lot of the native Quokkas hopping around the settlement.

We stayed in a lovely chalet overlooking Thompson Bay, and a short walk or ride to the main settlement.

We have arrived home refreshed and recharged. Hope to make it back to my sewing room in the next day or so to work on some new projects.

Thanks Lisa – quokkas are cute marsupials and they hop around everywhere on Rottnest Island. They aren’t afraid of people and come up close. Our family holiday was wonderful – three generations of our family were there. My teens enjoyed hanging out with their cousins.
