The Blog Tour for my book, A Spoonful of Sugar, started last week and I have been blown away by all the wonderful projects that everyone is making. As you will see, I have an amazingly talented bunch of ladies sharing their makes from A Spoonful of Sugar. I love how they have made the projects their own by adding extra details and their own style. Throughout the tour, I will be sharing round-ups of the talented bloggers and their gorgeous projects. You can check out {part 1} here. We really hope you will follow along!
Beverley McCullough from Flamingo Toes
Flamingo Toes, has been one of my favourites websites for many years as Bev generously shares a large range of creative projects with her readers using a variety of techniques including sewing, embroidery, jewellery making, DIY, and more. Bev has such a lovely style that is right on trend. I love how she often incorporates vintage fabrics and other re-purposed materials into her designs. Bev is the author of 30 Minute Jewelry: What You can Make to Wear in Half an Hour or Less? which has so many striking and individual pieces of jewelry that can be easily made by a beginner or experienced crafter. Head over to Flamingo Toes to see the extensive range of tutorials available.
For the Blog Hop, Bev made an adorable Kitchen Mixer Hoop and a matching Hexagon Hoop that are so pretty in red and aqua. These would look amazing in my kitchen. Head over to Flamingo Toes for more photos and details on this project.
Sedef Imer from Down Grapevine Lane
I first discovered the lovely work of Sedef Imer from Down Grapevine Lane a couple of years ago over on pinterest when she shared a cute embroidery tutorial. Sedef has a sweet and modern style that is captured in her beautiful photographs and you can regularly find her designs in Homespun Magazine. Sedef has had a super busy year with her first book, Quilt Petite available later this year (currently available for pre-order on Amazon). She also has her first fabric range, Sweet Orchard for Riley Blake Designs being released in August 2016. I am sure you will agree that it is a pretty fabric range.
For the Blog Hop, Sedef made a Retro Pillow that was constructed using hexagons from her Sweet Orchard Fabric range and finished it with a white crochet edging. This is such a pretty make and would look lovely in a little girl’s bedroom. Head over to Down Grapevine Lane to see the other cute project that Sedef shared.
Nadra Ridgeway from Ellis and Higgs
I have been following Nadra’s creative journey for a number of years over on her beautiful blog, Ellis and Higgs where she shares some wonderful tutorials. She has such a bright, fresh style and her photographs really shine. Nadra is a fabric designer for Riley Blake Designs and has released two pretty collections – Backyard Roses and Bloom and Bliss. Head over to Nadra’s Pattern Store to check out her gorgeous pattern designs.
For the Blog Hop, Nadra has combined a lovely red floral print from her new range, Backyard Roses, with a pretty toile du jouy, to create a Handy Eco Shopper bag. She has added the sweetest ribbon to the bag. Hop on over to Ellis and Higgs to see more beautiful images of this project, including the small bag pouch.
Amy Morinaka from Chick Chick Sewing
Amy and I have been blog friends for many years after I fell in love with her zakka style. Amy has recently returned to Japan with her family, and shares her zakka style sewing projects and snippets of her life in Japan on her inspiring blog, Chick Chick Sewing. Amy is the author of the wonderful book, Zakka Handmades, which includes 24 projects to help organise, adorn, and simplify your life. This book is one I have used many times, especially when I need to make a gift. Amy has a large selection of cute zakka style sewing patterns that she sells from her pattern store. Check out these lovely projects shown below.
For the Blog Tour, Amy created two sweet water bottle covers. She resized the Zakka Dilly Bag pattern to make the covers that feature a crochet base and a drawstring top. Amy’s covers are both pretty and practical – who can resist gingham and polka dots! Head over to Amy’s blog, Chick Chick Sewing for more images and details.
