Liberty Fabric Scrap Buster Projects

September 19, 2015 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 8 Comments

Liberty Projects

Do you love Liberty fabric? I have only started collecting (and using) Liberty fabric over the past year or so. Liberty lawn is beautiful fine quality cotton  fabric and I love the sweet classic floral prints that it is famous for. It is more expensive than regular quilting cotton so each and every precious scrap needs to be used. Here is a round-up of six of my favourite Liberty fabric projects that put those treasured Liberty “scraps” to good use.

Liberty 2Liberty Wreath 1

Mini Yoyo Wreath  is a fun project that could be made in Christmas colours or colours to match the season. Liberty fabric makes great yoyo’s as the fabric gathers up really well.

Liberty Tissue Cover

Liberty Tissue Covers make a pretty and practical gift. Combine the Liberty with some linen and velvet ribbon for a winning combination.

Charm Square Fabric Tray

Charm Square Fabric Tray’s can be constructed quickly and are a great way to showcase small pieces of your Liberty fabric. They make great containers to store a multitude of sewing items and supplies.

Shortbread Stars Recipe

Decorate jars of home baked goods with strips of your favourite Liberty prints. Check out more details and images on our Christmas shortbread post.

Liberty Hexie Sewing Kit PatternLiberty Hexie Sewing Kit is a fun way to showcase some English Paper Pieced hexagons in a range of Liberty prints. The pattern is available in our Pattern Shop and Etsy store for immediate download.

Parisian Pouch 2

Liberty, linen and lace has been combined in this version of our Parisian Pouch. You can find the Parisian Pouch pattern in our Pattern Shop and Etsy store.

Liberty and yoyos are a match made in heaven. I must make some of those little fabric trays! Perfect for precious jewelry on the bedside table!

I am crazy in love with this fabric. I wish I could afford more. I have used scraps in tiny Hexies so I wouldn’t waste a speck.

I have never tried Liberty fabric, but will have to keep it in mind when looking for new fabric. Thank you for sharing your ideas for the scrap pieces of fabric, they will all make excellent gifts for ourselves or friends and family. Have a wonderful creative day!

I love these little prints. Having moved to Austalia I was just wondering where you buy your fabric. Do you get it online?

Hi Maggie – Most of my Liberty fabric comes from Ava and Neve, an online fabric store that specialises in Liberty fabric.
