Sorry I can’t get the Mamma Mia soundtrack out of my head!! Thanks to everyone who entered our giveaway. The random number generator has identified the winner as Leanne. Well done Leanne – we will send the prize off to you on Monday!!
I have just completed this little soft ball made out of hand stitched pentagons. I used to make these when my kids were small – it was a fun project to use up some scraps of my favourite fabric!
Here are the Cross Stitched Christmas stockings I made for my kids back in 1996. We were living in Norway at the time and I didn’t have my sewing machine with me so I did a lot of cross stitching. Firstly, I made one for my dear son and then made up one for Sarah – adding the name in after she was born. I love getting them out each Christmas.
Hope everyone’s Christmas preparations are going smoothly. I have one more week of work and then will be on holidays for 6 weeks – can’t wait!
That ball is great Lisa. I love the fabrics you have used in it. Those cross stitched stockings must have taken you sooo long to do. They have a lovely story behind them too.
Me too!! Can’t wait for that 6 week break!! Love your stockings! I have some very detailed Cross Stitch Stockings in the cupboard called the Music Room…must hunt them out! Cathy Ps where can I find a pattern for that gorgeous ball??
Those stocking are so lovely! I wish I could see them in person to really look at all the work and love you put into them! So very nice. I am sure they will cherish them always!
I love the cross-stitch Christmas stockings, they are so pretty! And I must admit it took me awhile to see that they are the same pattern but on different backgrounds. Lol!
The Christmas stockings are amazing! That must have taken hours. I also like the soft ball. My son used to have one, but I had to take it away because he was kicking it around all over the house and wouldn’t stop. Fortunately nothing got broken!
Those Christmas stockings are amazing. How long did you live in Norway for?? and what took you there? I love remembering as I decorate the tree and put out decorations collected over the years.
Congratulations Leanne, hope you enjoy your new mag. The stockings are amazing I would hang them out for longer with so much work going into them. Enjoy your holidays.
I have made those balls, too, for my boys and later for my friend’s children, they are always a nice gift! The stockings are great, so much love and work, it is incredible! They sure are heirlooms to treasure!
Hi Lisa, thank you for your comment on my blog…nice to meet another West Aussie. Those stockings are beautiful, and the ball is great… I shall call back often. Hugs
Those stockings are beautiful! I always wanted to do cross-stitch stockings but just never got around to it — I still have all the old patterns though!
The stockings are so lovely! Bet they took a while to stitch. I am a big fan of cross stitch and used to stitch a lot in my teenage years. I was thinking, oh my goodness, 6 weeks off!! But then I remembered it is your summer. We are mid year here with it being our winter. Have a really lovely time off. X

I’m trying to collect as many of the patterns as I can. Sorry, I just got excited cos I don’t know of anyone else who’s done any of these stockings!
LOVE the hand-stitched ball! Can I ask you how many “pentagons” did you use to make this? Do you have a pattern or did you just eye-ball it? Thanks!!
