Pretty Pincushion

June 26, 2013 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 6 Comments

There hasn’t been nearly enough sewing time around here lately! This afternoon I really felt like working on a fun patchwork project so I turned to my craft library for some inspiration. I rarely buy any craft books these days as we are spoilt with new titles from authors and publishers. However one book I had to purchase was Patchwork Please! by Ayumi Takahashi. I have followed Ayumi’s blog, Pink Penguin, for years, and was looking forward to seeing her book.
Patchwork Please! has loads of fun, zakka style projects. I couldn’t go past the Prettified Pincushion project, shown on the front cover.
I think it took me longer to choose the fabrics that it did to sew it together. It is a great project to use up those treasured scraps – especially cute Japanese fabrics. I even found a little pink penguin to include in the top of the pincushion.
Some of our other pincushions include (as pictured below):
  • Applique Pincushion
  • Coconut Ice – a Chicken Scratch Pincushion
