{Book Reviews} Tilda’s Seaside Ideas and Fairy Tale Wonderland

July 3, 2013 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 6 Comments

We love the gorgeous sewing and papercraft projects designed by Tilda’s Tone Finnanger.  We were delighted when two of her newest titles arrived in our post office box recently.
Tilda’s Seaside Ideas by Tone Finnanger, is a sweet collection of sewing, papercraft, crochet and knitting projects, that are inspired by life by the ocean. Whales, sailboats, jellyfish, Fisher Girl, scarf, and ice lolly’s are just some of the beautiful projects.
Like all of Tilda’s books, everything is beautifully photographed and styled. It is such an inspiring book to look through. Everything is made with Tilda brand fabrics, papers, and materials.

The book includes full sized templates, clear instructions and illustrations to guide you through the process.

Book Details:
Format:     Paperback, 48 pages
Publisher:  David & Charles
ISBN:       9781446303788

Tilda’s Fairy Tale Wonderland by Tone Finnanger  is a gorgeous collection of projects that can be used as gifts, decorations, toys, and home accessories. The projects are all inspired by classic fairy tales such as The Princess and The Pea; Swan Lake; The Nutcracker; and Pinocchio.

Like all Tilda books, there are a variety of projects that can inspire all skill levels. There are a number of quick, easy projects suitable for the beginner sewer/crafter, through to more complex projects such as soft toys and dolls.

It is a charming collection of designs and a delight to read. Full sized pattern templates are included at the end of the book. The hard part is deciding on which project to make first!

 Book Details:
 Format:     Paperback, 160 pages
Publisher:   David & Charles
ISBN:        9781446303313
RRP:          $29.99

Awww! I love that polka dot pot! I’ve noticed that Tilda’s fabric line has been a real big hit in Japan nowadays, and I’ve been wanting to put my hands on her lovely fabrics and the book! Thanks so much for sharing!

Thank you for doing these reviews! I love the Tone Finnangar books and hadn’t realized these two had come out. I was quick to place my order. I’m not a very experienced sewer but I find her patterns to be easy to follow and the books are a feast for the eyes. Cheers

Swipe for a little trip down memory lane.Back in 2016, my priorities were firmly centred around family. I was working full‑time, sewing in the guest room, sharing tutorials on my blog, and slowly dipping my toes into selling a handful of patterns on Etsy. It was a busy, full season — and creativity was something I fitted in around everything else.  Fast forward to 2026… I’m now retired and living the creative life I once dreamed of. My kids have grown up and are living in their own homes nearby. My husband and I are free to travel, explore, and enjoy this stage of life. And I get to spend my days designing, sewing, and connecting with this beautiful community.Life looks different now — in the best possible way. Were you following me back then, or what has changed for you over the past 10 years?
