Do you celebrate St Patrick’s Day? I made a little Irish Bag for St Patrick’s Day. Celebrated on 17 March each year, St Patrick’s Day is a celebration of Irish culture and people often wear green, attend festivals, and enjoy Irish food and drinks. St Patrick is said to have bought Christianity to Ireland in the fifth century.
I found the perfect fabric for a St Patrick’s Day project featuring shamrocks and ladybugs. I teamed it with emerald green fabric from my stash to create a Mini Drawstring Gift Bag. I found that cute fabric when I was holidaying in Japan last year. I love seeking out fabric/craft stores when I am on my travels.
Designed as a mini, eco-friendly gift bag, these little gift pouches can be used to store a variety of items. They have a cleverly shaped base so that they can standup by themselves and are perfect for stowing small items or used as a fabric alternative to gift wrap. The mini drawstring bag can be constructed in around an hour using this beginner friendly pdf pattern.
I used emerald green satin rattail cord for the drawstring cord and a lime green fabric for the lining.
The mini drawstring gift bag has a clever construction method that gives it a flat base so it is able to stand up by itself without the need to create boxed corners.
