The Hexie Heart Placemat is a versatile pattern that can be used as a trivet, potholder, doiley, mug rug or placemat. I wanted to make a trivet to use with my favourite mint green teaset – Polka Rose by Royal Albert. It is pretty mint green fine bone china with polka dots and pink roses.

To make this sweet trivet – gather your favourite mint green small scale florals and add some pretty pinks for the centre heart.
The centre heart is easily constructed using foundation paper piecing.
Add the patchwork borders, quilt, and add binding and you are done! This project can be easily made in an afternoon.
