I have just returned home from a spring getaway on Rottnest Island (see some of my holiday snaps below). We are so lucky having this wonderful nature reserve just off our coast. It was lovely to ride our bikes around the island and enjoy the natural beauty of the Indian Ocean. This mini break has inspired my latest project – the Sail Away Pillow.
Sail Away Pillow is perfect for a nautical inspired baby’s nursery or child’s bedroom. It features a simple sailboat and is constructed using raw edge applique (also known as sewing illustration). A patchwork outer border is a lovely way to showcase a favourite fabric range. This project can be quickly completed in an afternoon. This is a great project to use all of your favourite fabrics in red, navy, blue and grey. Think stripes, dots, checks, and more! Sail Away Pillow is suitable for confident beginner or intermediate sewists.
The Pillow features a zipper closure on the pillow back, that is neatly covered by a placket to give a professional finish.
You can find the Sail Away Pillow in our Etsy store.

Cute cushions, I will check them out. Is Rotto going to be used for a quarantine centre again?
