Looking for quick, pretty, and practical gifts to make for Christmas? Our Travel Sewing Kit is a handy kit for sewists, travellers, or to carry in your handbag for wardrobe malfunctions. It can also be used as a small pouch to hold coins, ear buds, USB sticks, or other small items. It is a fun scrap buster pattern and can be easily made in under 1 hour.
Today I spent and enjoyable morning in my sewing room, making Travel Sewing Kits. After the sewing, I enjoyed searching through my vintage haberdashery supplies to find the perfect items to include in my photographs.
I made this Travel Sewing Kit using one exterior fabric rather than a patchwork exterior (as shown in the pattern). This one features some pretty Atsuko Matsuyama fabric from the 30’s Collection by Yuwa Fabrics and I wanted to showcase the fabric. Who can resist those sweet strawberries and polka dots?
When open, the Travel Sewing Kit has room for pins/needles, safety pins, buttons and more. It even has room to store some petite scissors – perfect for crafting on the go!
