A Spoonful of Sugar Blog Tour {Part 3}

May 10, 2016 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 2 Comments

 A Spoonful of Sugar Blog Hop

The Blog Tour for my book, A Spoonful of Sugar, is well under way and I have been overwhelmed by all the amazing projects that everyone is creating. As you will see, I have a very talented bunch of bloggers sharing their makes from A Spoonful of Sugar. I love how they have put their own creative twist on the projects. Throughout the tour, I will be sharing round-ups of the talented creators and their gorgeous projects.  Don’t forget to check out {part 1} and {part 2}

Caroline Critchfield from Sew Can She

Caroline is the creator of the popular Sew Can She site which features a free daily sewing tutorial from around the internet. I have had many tutorials featured there over the years and it is a great resource for sewing inspiration. Caroline is also the author of Just For You: Selfish Sewing from your favourite Sew Can She Bloggers which features one of my designs, the Foxy Smart Phone Cover.

Colorful Patchwork Bags and Baskets

For the Blog Hop, Caroline made a sweet polka dot apron for her daughter, and embellished it with the “Love to Bake” raw edge appliqué. I am sure you will agree that the finished result is super cute! Head over to Sew Can She blog for all the project details.

Kristyne Czepuryk from Pretty By Hand

I have been a big fan of Kristyne’s for many years. Her blog, Pretty By Hand, is exactly that – she creates the most amazing projects and has the ability to add sweet details such as lace and embroidery to create her own signature style. There is so much beautiful eye candy on her lovely site, including loads of free tutorials.  Kristyne is also the author of S is for Stitch: 52 Embroidered Alphabet Designs and Charming Projects for Little Ones which has a wealth of sweet alphabet embroidery patterns for children. Kristyne sells her gorgeous zakka style patterns, such as the designs shown below, in her online store.

For the Blog Hop, Kristyne created a gorgeous Sewing Portfolio using pretty florals. She eliminated the patchwork on the cover so that the pretty floral fabric and lace would be the hero. This portfolio is such a handy size and would be perfect for storing an embroidery or English Paper Piecing project; or you could use it when travelling to store accessories or small items. The clear plastic pockets make it easy to see your supplies. Head over to Kristyne’s blog post for all the project details and more of her gorgeous photos.

Bronwyn Hayes from Red Brolly

Bronwyn is a super talented artist and designer who I have been following for many years. Together with her daughter, Sanchia, they generously share loads of sewing, embroidery, crafting, recipes and lifestyle projects over on their creative blog, Red Brolly.  Bronwyn has a fresh and inspiring style, that injects joy into her designs. Bronwyn has written several gorgeous sewing and stitching books, which you can find in her shop. She also sells a large range of patterns for quilts, bags, and more, in her online store, like these sweet projects shown below.

For the Blog Hop, Bronwyn created a gorgeous Retro Pillow using pretty Paperie fabrics. She added some simple stitching to a few of the hexagons to provide some definition. She also finished it off with a sweet ruffled trim, which is the perfect edging alternative to crochet. Head on over to Bronwyn’s blog for more details and gorgeous photos. Bronwyn created some fabric hoops to match, which would look so sweet in a little girls bedroom.

Anorina Morris from Samelia’s Mum

Anorina is another Australian based blogger who has been my friend for many years. Anorina shares her creative projects over on her blog, Samelia’s Mum. Anorina is a regular contributor to a range of Australian sewing/quilting magazines where she shares her inspiring makes. She also shares a range of inspiring tutorials over on her blog, some of which are shown below.

For the Blog Hop, Anorina created a lovely Retro Pillow using Chatsworth floral fabric in pretty shades of blue, pink, and yellow. She added a sweet yellow crocheted edging which is the perfect finishing touch. What I love about the Retro Pillow is that it would look great in a living room or bedroom, The large hexagons are machine sewn which makes it fairly quick to construct. Head over to Samelia’s Mum for more photos of Anorina’s gorgeous pillow.

    I’ve been seeing so many wonderful projects from your new book. I got a late start but am now caught up. Thankfully, “Pretty by Hand”‘s posting is what got me going.

Sharing a closer look at the Handy Drawstring Pouc Sharing a closer look at the Handy Drawstring Pouch today — a sweet little project that’s as practical as it is pretty. I stitched this one in the blue and gold colourway of the Tilda Songbird collection and love how the soft watercolour florals shine in a small make. The pouch features cleverly shaped panels (with no boxed corners), stands tall when in use, and folds completely flat for storage. It’s also reversible, which makes it such a fun and versatile sew.   These little pouches are perfect for organising your sewing room, gifting to a friend, or popping into a project bag.The pattern includes three sizes, and you can find it in both my Pattern Store and Etsy shop. Comment HANDY and I’ll send the link straight to your inbox.A big thank you to @tilda_australia for gifting the beautiful fabric.#tildasongbird #drawstringbagpattern #aspoonfulofsugardesigns #tildafabrics #sewingproject
