Patchwork Pencil Case

February 14, 2014 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 14 Comments

Pencil Case 1In my day job, I work between a couple of sites and have to pack my laptop, files, and supplies into a laptop wheel bag on a regular basis.  I am always hunting around the bottom of the bag for my pens. To solve this problem, I have made a new patchwork pencil case for my work bag. I used our  Tutorial which is a good size for just a few pens and stationery supplies.

The fun part of making these pencil cases, is selecting the fabrics to use. This time I went with a pink, aqua and grey colour scheme. I had to add a small Eiffel Tower. It came from  printed tape that I purchased from this Etsy store.

I’m on a fabric fast until July and need some good stash busters. I’ve seen some great quilts but I love this pencil case. A project that won’t take too long. Fab-o! I’ll scoot on over to your tutorial soon. Big thanks for sharing.

I don’t quilt or do patchwork as I’ve only just got a sewing machine but this is so inspiring.

Love the pencil case and love having “easy” projects to use scraps…but my big question –WHERE did you find those scissors? Neat! Thanks for sharing!

      Hi Diane

I bought the Eiffel Tower scissors from ebay (just searched for eiffel tower scissors). They came from China and were only around $7.00. If you live in Australia, Typo also sell some Eiffel Tower scissors which I discovered after I had already purchased mine.

Your new case is tres chic!
Thanks for this cute pattern! I made one for my purse as well since I like to have pens in a variety of colors. This case is also great for a gift! 🙂

Such a cute craft idea. I love the spring-y colors you chose. I have a bunch of fabric scraps and this would be a great project for them. Thanks for sharing!
