Sewing Tool Pouch

August 20, 2014 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 7 Comments

Sewing Tool Pouch made from easy Pencil Case Tutorial at A Spoonful of Sugar.

You can never have too many pencil cases! I made this sewing tool pouch to hold my favourite sewing gadgets/tools – perfect for taking to sewing group and sewing retreats. It is made using our Pencil Case tutorial which is suitable  for beginner sewers with a quick and easy method of inserting the zipper. Even if you are new to zipper sewing, our photo tutorial will guide you through. We have made quite a number of these pencil cases over the years and they are useful for storing lots of different items. They are a great size for popping in your handbag or satchel.

I love vintage sewing supplies and was very excited to find some vintage zippers on Etsy with a ring style zipper pull (reminiscent of the 1970’s!). I partnered the vintage zipper with a sweet text print Nesshome (Korean) fabric from Miss Matatabi and some favourite polka dots.

The vintage zipper is great, especially with the ring-pull! I wonder how hard they are to come by?

If you search on Etsy for Vintage Ring Pull Zipper in craft supplies category it comes up with a few options of various sizes/colours. Mine were 5 zips for $6.50 USD plus shipping. The quality of the old style zips are really high.

These pouches are gorgeous and would make great Christmas gifts!

I’m thinking gifts for gals to put in their purses to keep things organized, and for mamas to keep baby items inside…

Thanks for posting the link to the tutorial; I’m off to check that out now!

Another great project – I always get fired with enthusiasm when I see another stitchy project here. These little purses are indeed the perfect gift for all those difficult to buy for friends and family members. Love the tape measure tab and wonderful vintage zip!
