6 Ways to Refresh Your Bathroom for Spring

September 17, 2015 By A Spoonful of Sugar - 6 Comments

6 Ways to Refresh Your Bathroom DecorSponsored by Target

We built our home 12 years ago and everything is in need of a makeover. Our focus this year has been on re-painting the internal walls, and changing some of our home décor items to give our home a much needed refresh. Our focus this month has been on the bathrooms. Fortunately we selected neutral tiles and cabinetry in shades of white and ecru which has given us a blank canvas to work with.

We headed to Target to check out the Spring homewares collection and found some perfect bathroom accessories to refresh our bathroom décor. Here are our top tips for bathroom decorating:

6 Ways to Refresh Your Bathroom Decor

1. Add some Colour

Colourful new towels can really give your bathroom a much needed lift. For the main bathroom we selected some bright and cheerful towels in mint, yellow and white. For the ensuite we selected towels in white and thistle to give a more sophisticated look.

2. Add some Geometric Design Accents

Geometric elements are on trend this spring. Add some towels or accessories that feature geometric designs such as triangles, zigzags, hexagons etc. We added some triangle hand towels, a zigzag pot, and a multi faceted ceramic candle.

6 Ways to Refresh Your Bathroom Decor

3. Look for Quirky Accents

Add some fun to your bathroom space with some quirky accent pieces like this bunny jar we found to store cotton tips.

4. Incorporate some Elements from Nature

Nothing add freshness to a bathroom space quite like fresh flowers, plants, and shells. We live near the coast and found a lovely shell to decorate our master bathroom. A flowering bud from our garden and a pot plant added a natural touch. Using natural materials like wood and hyacinth also give your bathroom a spa feel.

6 Ways to Refresh Your Bathroom Decor

5. Incorporate some Texture

Nothing adds a luxurious feel quite like soft plush towels and soft, thick bathmat underfoot. Look for bathing products loaded with essential oils and natural cleansing abilities, and add a new bath loofah.

6 Ways to Refresh Your Bathroom Decor

6. Include Smart Storage Options

Incorporate baskets to store extra towels for guests. We found a sweet hyacinth basket and a metal wire basket to store towels in our bathrooms.

Wonderful ideas! We recently repainted our bathroom and put in a new sink. Everything is stark white because I just couldn’t think what else to do (we have a 1970s blue tub and toilet). This has given me some great inspiration. Thanks!
