Basket Quilt Block

August 21, 2023 By A Spoonful of Sugar - Leave a Comment

One of the most classic and versatile quilt blocks is the basket block. It can be used to create a variety of patterns and designs, from traditional to modern. If you love basket blocks, you’ll love our new foundation paper piecing pattern that includes 5 quilt block sizes ranging from 2 inches to 6 inches.

Foundation paper piecing is a technique that allows you to create precise and intricate shapes with ease. You simply sew the fabric pieces onto a paper template, following the numbered order and seam lines. Then you trim the excess fabric and paper, and voila, you have a perfect basket block.

Our basket foundation paper piecing pattern is available as a digital download in our Pattern Store and Etsy Shop. You’ll get a PDF file with the instructions and templates for all 5 sizes. You can print as many copies as you need and mix and match the sizes to create your own unique project.

Whether you want to make a mini quilt, a bag, a table runner, a pillow, or more, you’ll find plenty of inspiration and possibilities with this pattern. Don’t miss this opportunity to add some charm to your next project with these lovely basket blocks. 😊

Maybe it's just me, but I think every sewist has a Maybe it's just me, but I think every sewist has a piece of fabric they're a little afraid to cut into.

You know the one.

The fabric that's too pretty, too special, or waiting for the perfect project.

I've certainly been guilty of saving beautiful Liberty fabrics for "someday". But over the years I've realised something:

The joy isn't in owning the fabric.

The joy is in turning it into something you'll use, display, gift, or enjoy every day.

Some of my favourite sewing projects began with a Liberty fabric I was hesitant to cut into. Looking back, I've never regretted using it. The only fabrics I've regretted are the ones that sat folded away for years waiting for the perfect moment.

Beautiful fabric deserves to become something beautiful.

✨ What's a fabric you've been saving for a special project?
