Winter Warmers

May 27, 2009 By Spoonful of Sugar - 39 Comments

With the arrival of some cooler weather, my crafting over the past week or so has involved playing with some of the gorgeous organic yarns that are around at the moment.

This one is a wool and soybean blend – really soft and warm……

This one is a bamboo and cotton blend….

I have traded my old knitting needles for some bamboo needles and have really enjoyed the difference.

Sarah and I are addicted to Master Chef on Channel 10 at the moment and have been snuggling under this crochet blanket while we watch. I worked out that I made this blanket 27 years ago when I was 17 years old. It was the year I was doing my Year 12 exams and my reward for every hour of studying, was to crochet a few rounds. It is still going strong but after seeing all the lovely afghans around at the moment, I feel quite inspired to make an new one.

I have started this Cherry Tree embroidery from Marie Claire Idees and am enjoying some stitching in front of the TV.

We have a long weekend coming up this weekend, in celebration of Foundation Day, when the Swan River colony was founded in 1829. I hope to get back into some sewing over the weekend. I see another quilt in my future!

That green cotton bamboo blend yarn looks gorgeous. I’ve just finished working with a cotton bamboo blend and just loved it!

I’m glad to hear that someone else is addicted to MasterChef as well 🙂

That is a great looking blanket. i can still remember the wonderful blankets that my grandmother crocheted. They were all of little squares finished in black and the rainbow effect of the colours was what has stayed with me.

Oh my! I just love that cherry tree embroidery, it is beautiful! The knitting is gorgeous too, I really love the white one’s stitch pattern. I just tried some yarn made from sugar cane! Crazy what they can make yarn out of these days. It is probably the softest yarn I have ever knit with. It will be a baby cardigan, hat and booties.

Lisa two of my favourite things to look at (as you know I do next to nothing). Trees and embroidery. Beautiful.

I have a vision of you in my mind snuggled on the couch with beautiful Sarah. I always did it with my kids too.

Thank you on your best wishes for Nathan. And yes the home environment was fabulous but believe me it had its moments.
