Popular sewing blogger, Vanessa Christenson, of V & Co, has released a new range of books that celebrate color. The first three books in the series – Red, Orange, and Yellow – are available now, with Green, Blue, and Purple set to be released in Australia later in the year. The books promise to be a crayon box for quilters and they inspire you to look at colour differently so that it is the hero in your project. Each book discusses color theory relating to the individual color, and then showcases four quilts and two smaller projects, specifically designed to celebrate the featured colour. These books will really get you looking at your stash differently.
What we love most about this series of books are the beautiful photographs that really celebrate each colour. Each book contains useful theory relating the colour value, tints, saturation, tones, complementary colours, and winning colour combinations. There are lots of fun monochromatic projects to excite you to create.
The red (and pink) projects include four quilts – Red Cross, XOXO Quilt (featured below), Nordic Folklore, and Queen of Hearts.
Other red projects include the Love Pillow (shown below) and the Emergency Zipper Bag.
In Simply Color Orange, Quilted projects include Creamsicle (shown below), Orange Crush, Cheese Crackers, and Clementine.
Smaller Projects include the Pumpkin Pie Pillow and Sliced Pincushion.
Quilted projects in Simply Color Yellow include Katies Yellow Quilt, Diamond Hexagon, Pineapple Rind, and Lemonade Stand.
Other projects include Star Student Pouch and Sunshine Clutch.
We recommend the Simply Color series for quilters and sewers who want to learn more about color theory and are keen to construct some monochromatic projects to make colour shine!
