Thanks to Penguin Australia, Sarah and I recently had the opportunity to review The Great Aussie Asian Cookbook by Kim Terakes, photography by Rob Palmer. The book is a visual feast with so many fresh and inspired recipes.
Kim Terakes, bestselling author of the Great Aussie Cookbook series, demystifies Asian cooking with his everyday recipes drawing on his passion for Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Malaysian and Japanese food.
The Great Aussie Asian Cookbook begins with a history of Aussie Asian food and covers how to shop for Asian ingredients and how to stock an Asian pantry. Kim draws on his family and past connections to Aussie Asian food to offer personable advice and practical tips for Aussie Asian cooking. Recipes for dishes like Vietnamese honey pork and red curry duck with lychees are included in the book along with recipes for Asian soups, snacks and finger food, meat, fish and vegetarian dishes.
Our family loves stir fries and curries and the book has loads of recipes that would be just the thing for a mid week Asian inspired meal. Most recipes are accompanied by a full page, mouth watering photograph, which is always a must for us when selecting cookbooks. The recipes are all bursting with Asian flavours.
With Fathers Day only a month away, this book would make an ideal gift for Dad’s who love to cook.
